COLUMBUS DAY SALE

Ok, according to my 1st grade teacher, everyone thought the Earth was flat until some Italian dude convinced the Queen of Spain to pay him to sail off the edge of the Earth. Sounds like it was a win-win situation for the Queen. If he was right, there was a shortcut to China and Spain would become rich. If wrong, he would sail off the edge of the Earth and plummet to his death in the vast emptiness of space. If this happened, the Queen wouldn’t have to listen to him beg for money again. He was given three ships- the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria and set sail in 1492. He found a bunch of land that Europeans didn’t know about and we get America. Pretty sweet deal for us! I also learned from TV that kids in other states get Columbus Day off from school. This never happened in Arizona when I was growing up and it really ticked me off! In college, they told me the most of the Columbus story is a myth and a great many scholars think he might have actually been a serious jerk. Nonetheless, it’s our heritage and if you want to know more, that’s what wikipedia is for.

So why am I rambling on about Columbus?

LABOR DAY WEEKEND SALE!!!!!!!
September 3, 2009, 10:07 pm

Sorry it’s been so long since I dropped a new blog on you. Things have been crazy in the sac as of late :-) That is how we roll here at LOVESAC Arizona Mills! So I was sitting at home making lunch and the phone rings. Andy, the boss man was on the other end saying “James, this weekend is gonna be huge.” I tell him that I’m aware of this because I’m scheduled to work it so it must be. He says “Seriously, corporate is authorizing us to offer a big fat sale on our sacs!” So that was 20 minutes ago and now that I’ve wrapped my head around the numbers, here’s the breakdown:

Buy ANY Lovesac Cover at regular price (custom or in-stock) and we’re going to knock off half the price of the Lovesac insert itself.

On our largest bag, that’s like getting a coupon that says: SAVE OVER $200 BUCKS!

So the deal starts tomorrow and goes through Monday.

According to Wikipedia, Labor Day is a celebration of the working class. Basically, the government is telling us that we’ve been working all year doing our jobs and making ends meet and we deserve a day off. When I have a day off, I enjoy spending it in my Love Sac.

In other News, we’re expecting our next batch of Sactionals in very soon and if you’re shopping for a couch, you’ve gotta stop buy and see out demo first hand. Every day, I have someone tell me how much they wish they knew about our Sactionals before they dropped a fortune on furniture less awesome somewhere else. Don’t be left sac-less on a lame sofa, come check us out!

Also, we’ve been doing some great stuff with the folks over at Tempe12. Those are the guys who put together the calendar full of ridiculously beautiful local girls. They’ve got a bus, almost like the LoveSac bus being furnished with an all-Sac interior; nothing but Sactionals, LoveSac cover upholstery, and a brass pole! We hope to have some pictures up soon so check back!

DON’T FORGET- AWESOME SALE THIS WEEKEND!!!

Happy Birthday America!

The Awesomeness that is our Sactionals

Every time I come to work, I get to hear one of our customers say “Dude, you guys sell couches now or are they just for like, display or something?” I’m stumped by this. All over the country, we can’t keep them on the shelves. The Sactionals are our most “in demand” product. A truck load comes in and they’re already spoken for. The word is that the eggheads at LoveSac HQ had to build a new factory to keep up. Basically, Sactionals are HOT and if you want ‘em, you better order in advance. This means that you shouldn’t wait to get in to the shop and take a look.

So the real question is why? Why are Sactionals so HOT? Honestly, I can do my best to tell you but it’s still better if you come in. The English language lacks the words and punctuation marks needed to express how cool these babies are but I’m gonna give it a shot for you:

1. Durability! Solid hardwood construction means that LoveSac can back the Sactionals with a lifetime guarantee. This means that Sactionals will outlast the cheap Scandinavian junk and the fancy pants expensive couches that you find elsewhere.

2. Machine washable covers! I’m not talking about just the cushions but rather, every piece! You can wash the fabric on the side of the couch and even on the base! This means the covers come off everything and can also be easily replaced.

3. Optimization and Customization! Naturally, we’ve got tons of covers for you to choose from! However, I’m not just talking about changing the feel but also the whole design. LoveSac Sactionals can be changed and rearranged to suit your needs. You buy base pieces and side pieces. With the bases and sides you buy, you can make L-couches, love seats, chases, loungers, chairs, ottomans, and things we’ve named that you’ve never even thought of before. You can also change your mind after you build it, unhook it, and build something else with the same pieces!

4. Portability! When people ask if we deliver, I ask them if they came in on a bike. The pieces stack and store so brilliantly that you can move your Sactionals without renting a van.

So it all boils down to this: Sactionals are easy to clean and care for, durable, portable, and customizable. It’s no wonder that they fly off the shelves. If you order today, you’re going to have a wait. This means that waiting to come in and order them forces you to wait on both ends of the transaction. You don’t want that.

If the Awesomeness that is our Sactionals still isn’t clear, we will show you how it’s done. Come into LoveSac at Arizona Mills and ask for James. Then, moan loudly if I’m not working before letting one of my awesome coworkers take care of you. Regardless of who you speak to, say “I heard that Sactionals are amazing, prove it.” After that, it’s on us to show it to you and believe you me, we will.

Ok, for the visual learners, here’s a video starring our glorious founder and Chief Sac, Shawny D. that shows you our Sactionals and how they work. (He’s worshiped in several countries so you should show some reverence)

I hope that clears it all up for you. See you in the shop!

Arizona Lives!!!

LoveSac in Arizona Mills Mall is your Sac-Connection! You Want a LoveSac, you need a LoveSac, and this blog is now live to tell you why LoveSac at Arizona Mills is where you go to buy a LoveSac.

You probably know someone who has a Sac. They may have a big Sac or a small Sac. Despite what you may have heard, the size of their Sac really doesn’t matter because face it, not everyone has enough room for The Big One. The point being that those with a Sac are still better off than those without a Sac. Have you ever noticed that your friends with LoveSacs are usually in a better mood than you? Do you find that they do better at work and enjoy their home life more than you do? If so, that very well could be because they spend their down time in a comfortable LoveSac. I know that this news may seem disheartening but fear not, I’m not writing to wreck your mood. There is a simple solution to the problem at hand- Come down to LoveSac at Arizona Mills and fix your deficiency. You can get your own Sac- you can be made whole!

The fastest way to get yourself to LoveSac when you drop by Arizona Mills is to park near Burlington Coat Factory at Arizona Mills. You may even wish to use their shop as a shortcut. If you do this, simply cut through their shop and make a right inside the mall. After that, we’re just a couple of shops down on the right.

In the coming weeks and months, we’ll introduce you to our staff and you can get to know each of us. Then you’ll be able to pretend you know us when you come in and make us feel really awkward. Check back soon for more!

Customers Say It Best

On my travels to the Front Lines of LoveSac each winter I get the pleasure of meeting many loyal LoveSac customers who know and love our product.  It really is a pretty cool feeling to meet people who have chosen to spend their hard-earned money on products I’ve invented who not only have the product, but who really “get” the product.  That is to say, there is truly so much more to LoveSac than just what meets the eye.  Just today, in fact at Fashion Place Mall, I was crawling around on the ground re-wiring their cash & wrap when I overheard a customer who was working on picking out a new Cover for her Sac.

It turns out that she has had her Sac for years and years.  It was originally purchased to help her handicapped child get comfortable.  We find that there are numerous maladies which the Sac can literally be theraputic for.  Now, the woman finds herself sleeping in the SuperSac every single night for at least half of the night because her hips bother her so much…but in the warm durafoam cradle that the Sac provides, there is no pain.  As she said, “it is more than just furniture,” to her.

That said, there were two women who came in to LoveSac at Flatiron Crossing (Colorado) while I was there last week.  Check out what they had to say about their LoveSac furniture….

NM to CO to Thanksgiving in Utah

The road from Teas to anywhere is a long road.  Kai jumped on board and we made the long trek to LoveSac at Cottonwood Mall in Albuquerque New Mexico where Alex joined up with us for our Front Line visits to Andy & Crew.  IMG_6451 I must say, this is the best I’ve ever seen our New Mexico store look, and I’m pretty sure it is the best New Mexico staff we’ve ever had.  IMG_6447 I think these guys are actually in the running to win the white glove merchandising contest we’re running amongst the stores right now.

For those of you who haven’t followed, I am currently on my “Front Line” tour of all of the LoveSac stores, where I work in each store, personally, do some merchandising, some training, and get to know everyone on the staff.  It is one of the hightlights of my year. One of the things we do at each stop is to make some silly video, which we then splice into the in-store video that plays in every store nationwide.  If you were not able to decipher what was happening in the above photo on the left, you will just have to get to a LoveSac store in 2009 to see the full video.  Basically, though, the staff all became Sactionals Sides and had a game of dodge ball.  Not so funny until you see them try to pick up their balls off the floor wearing these costumes. Good entertainment.  08k FL TX & NM (28)

Shortly after making the in-store video, we adjourned to the LoveSac bus for a little brand-training session and some mayhem.  We drove the bus to the nearest Sonic and ordered food at midnight.  The Sonic workers were obviously a bit surprised to see the party they walked into on the bus, as evidenced by the videos below.  Let’s just say that the New Mexico crew knows how to get their freak on.

The crew at Cottonwood is truly cool.  It is so good to have Jules back…yet another old-school Sac’r who has found her way back to the Sac this year.  That seems to be an ongoing theme this year.

LOVESAC FLATIRON CROSSING, BOULDER/BROOMFIELD, COLORADO

08k Flatiron (26) Luckily, Alex was not afraid of the bus, so he drove most of the way up to Colorado.  I actually got some “normal” work done. It seems like every one of these drives is just a bit longer than you think it is going to be.  Of course, it does take like 30 minutes just to fill up the bus with gas.  Never an easy feat.

Upon arrival at Flatiron Crossing LoveSac (Denver), we had to hit sales training immediately.  We worked into the night. The legendary Wayne Vaughn, LoveSac’s #1 Fan was there as well (shown with me, left).  This year he brought his girlfriend, and he stayed for the entire staff training.  Man, even the Flatiron staff is cool.  We have Brook and Rich who have both been with LoveSac for more than 4 years now, and we just had Kelly come back after taking a year off.  Once again, people just can’t seem to stay away.  This is a great thing. 08k Flatiron (29)

After a late night of training on the bus, I returned the next day, the day before Thanksgiving, to completely re-work the store layout, re-hang some of the art, replace every single lightbulb, and generally get the place looking “right.”  It went well, but unfortunately I was not able to wrap it up until 2am on Thanksgiving Day!  08k Flatiron (28) I had a couple of our best, most loyal Sac’rs hang with me to the bitter end. Thanks fellas. This only meant that I was (once again) going to get little or no sleep, and drive straight through to try to make it back to Salt Lake City for a littlle in-law Thanksgiving dinner….literally, just made it in time for the opening prayer.

A Happy Holidays to all of you, from the Front Lines of LoveSac.  Thanks for reading.
